Meet the Slush Sisters

We are two sisters who started a real business because we wanted to learn how real businesses work.

Harper is 11 and Finley is 8, and we live in Lakeway, Texas. We named this company, picked the colors, chose every flavor, and show up at every event in matching shirts. Our mom runs the accounts you see us on — she posts, we are what gets posted. Dad drives, because we cannot. We do the rest.

This is not our first business. Before Slush Sisters we ran lemonade stands, sold friendship bracelets, and set up hot chocolate stands when it got cold. We like building things and figuring out how to sell them — the frozen drink machine is the one that turned into a real company.

The candy garnish was our idea. Every single cup we serve gets a piece of candy that matches the flavor. Watermelon slushie gets a Sour Patch Watermelon on the rim. Strawberry gets a strawberry gummy. Nobody else does this. It is our thing.

Slush Sisters is a registered Texas LLC with business insurance. We take it seriously even though we are kids — schools, HOAs and neighborhood events book us, and there is a whole page with the real numbers for whoever is organizing.

What we actually do differently

The machine holds two flavors at once, and which two is up to you — two for the grown-ups, two with no alcohol, or one of each. If you want a tank with no alcohol in it, we are always glad to make one at no extra cost, so nobody gets left out — a grown-up party, a kids’ party, or both at once all work the same to us. That offer is rule one of seven we wrote down so people can catch us breaking them.

We treat it like a science problem

We thought you poured syrup in and it turned into a slushie. It does not. Too little sugar and you get a lump of ice the machine cannot even turn — we know, because we made one and heard the motor straining. So now we measure every batch before it goes in the truck, and we put the numbers and the failed experiments on our own website, including the time our calculator told customers our best recipe was a block of ice.

A business that only shows you the parts that worked is not showing you much.

The thing we decided before anyone asked

We make the frozen mix, and there is no alcohol in it. If grown-ups want margaritas, one of them adds their own tequila after we have gone home. We wrote that down and published it before a single person asked us about it, which is the only time a promise like that counts for anything.

Where the idea came from

Our friend Everest is also 11 and runs his own frozen drink machine rental called EEZ Freeze in Wimberley, Texas. He started first. We saw what he built and wanted to do our own version of it up here in Lakeway.
